I have to share...

I was just on the Cosmo Cricket blog, and they're giving away some goodies! So you'll want to go check that out!

So...who absolutely NEEDS the entire Everafter line? Me!!! (...she says, squirming in her chair and raising her hand) It's absolutely perfect for me! The colors, the birds! Oh yes... it will be mine! It will be mine...

The question is when? Because as of today, Friday, payday, my husband has not been paid. All the smaller-salaried employees have been paid, but not us. In fact, the boss may be out of 'available' money! So let's see...do a 20% pay-cut across the board instead of getting rid of the dead-weight in the company. Then, when you see you won't have enough money to pay everyone, you give all the money to the lower-paid employees, and none to the higher. Does that sound right to you? I don't think so! We need something! We have a mortgage, a car payment, 2 kids! (no, not in order of priorities, but in expense) I hate complaining (though I do it oh so well) but this is crazy! We're only able to make our mortgage payment this month because my husband took a 'loan' out of the 401K.

Okay, so I just deleted a big ranting paragraph! I'm going to spare you and move on to something happier! Let's see...

I received a wonderful envelope full of chipboard today! I won a card contest at Magistical Memories! Talk about an awesome prize...woo-hoo! If you've never tried their chipboard, I recommend it! It's different...very compact and sturdy, and it's cut out so well. They have some really intricate designs too. They're having a sale right now...go get some, and think of me when you play with it! :) Then show me what you made! ( I love me some show and tell!) Here's my card. The deer is chipboard, his spots some leftover I cut into circles, and I used another piece of chipboard as a template for the branch...

Let's see if I have any fun pictures to share today...
Here are some washboards I got from an antique store. They're waiting to be hung in my 'laundry room.' It's not a real room, but rather a laundry hallway with an unused back door. I love laundry. I really wish I had a 'room' but I still have big plans for my hallway!

Here's the text on the little guy...
It's pretty worn off... ( I'm hoping this pic doesn't get cut off like all the others do. Does anyone know what template/etc. to use so that all the pics don't get cut in half?)

Well that's it for today! Hope you have a great weekend! I'm certainly looking forward to it! :)

A new day...

I'm happy to say I'm feeling much better today! I even have some good news...I got my daughter to take a nap in her crib! Woo-hoo! Yes, she yelled a for like 15 minutes straight, but then she settled down and took a nice nap! But then, at bedtime, my husband (having worked for 15 hours straight) felt 'too exhausted' to 'try' to get her in bed. There's no trying, you just have to pick her up and put her there! But apparently only super-mom can do these 'amazing' feats! (she says with an incredibly sarcastic tone)

So tonight, after waking up to the chain-saw serenade floating from my husband's throat, the way-too-hot blankets I threw on myself when I was chilly, and the need for a drink, I walked back into the bedroom and there was no longer room for me... got to love it!

I found a pic I took of Snoqualmie falls during the flood. (The first day that 203 was open to the south. It was our only way out of town!) You really have to know what it's 'normal' flow is like to appreciate this, but it was raging! In fact, this is the only pic I got off before my lens was completely soaked! During the summer you can walk down on the rocks near the bottom...not today!
Well, that's enough sharing for tonight! Wish me luck on getting back to sleep!

So out of sorts...

I hate it! ( I can hear my parents saying 'hate is such a strong word') But I do...feeling out of sorts that is. Especially when you don't know how to get up out of it. I have the desire to go re-organize my fabric stash (which is funny because it's the only thing that I actually have organized). And normally I would go do that and say to heck with sleep, but my husband is getting up at 1am to go to work and my daughter is sleeping in my bed, so she'll probably wake up when he does. (Yes, she's still afraid of something. It's really taking it's toll on us.) Is anyone still wondering why I feel odd? lol

So what am I going to do to get myself back to normal?

Okay, you know what? I'm bringing us all down, and I hate that too! :) Let's talk about something fun, shall we?

Today I went to the library in North Bend and got a book suggested by someone on one of the MBs I belong to. North Bend is oddly far away to be going to the library, especially when they'll send it to my local branch, but I felt like taking a ride. Some of the road that I normally take is still washed out, but it was a nice trip.

Recently, I've noticed that my posts are more words than pics. That isn't fun, is it? So here's a random pic of an afghan I'm in the middle of. (Yes, it'll probably take years to finish at the rate I'm 'working' on it!) I think it's pretty though...

I'll leave you with that, and tomorrow I'll make a post in a fully upbeat manner! :) lol

I don't like change...

Well, hasn't this been a special week! To start, I think it was about 4-5 days ago that my daughter decided she no longer wanted to sleep in her crib. Well she's going to be 3, so it's about time (though she's by no means a mature 3). But this wasn't a 'momma I'm a big girl now' decision... something scared her. Could have been a gust of wind, or maybe a bit of snow/ice falling off the roof...I don't know. But she is WAY afraid of that crib. Luckily her room used to be the guest room so there's a queen size bed in there, and she decided she wants to sleep in it.

But no naps! I live for those naps! It's the only time of day I get any quiet, I can eat without having to share (her appetite is insane!), I can take a shower if I missed it. Yes, I'm feeling sorry for myself! She also has to be super tired in order to stay in the room...so she's been up at almost midnight each night! This just isn't working for me! Although I have been anxious to get her her own big girl bed... but that brings us to the 2nd unwanted change...

My husband's boss has done a 20% pay cut across the board! Yes, 20%! Now mind you, it's a lot better than losing your job entirely, but it's a significant decrease, especially when you kind-of live paycheck to paycheck. But we'll be okay. I have no spending money (agh!) and less food money, less gas, less everything! I'm not going to go into how I feel about the decision, let's just say that as long as the 20% keeps the company afloat, we can manage.

Speaking of afloat, perhaps you heard that western WA is an island right now! Well, actually Rt.2 just opened up, so you can leave. My town, Duvall, is also it's own little island. Most people live on the hill, like me, but the farmers are in the river valley. Here are some pics:

Here's where the river usually is...that's an old bridge part...
Most houses in the valley are built up on a slight grade, but it's not enough to spare them...

Ya think? This sign in on one of the roads out of the area...
While I was taking this pic there was a bald eagle doing circles overhead.

Well, that's my news! Hope you had a better week than me! ;)

Happy New Year!

Although, I have to admit I don't feel very happy at all. I'm in a mood, it's dismal outside...

Dh thought we might go to IKEA to look at more storage furniture for my craft room, but I think I may just take a nap this afternoon and start the day over. You know I'm REALLY in a mood if I say no to shopping! ;)

On a positive note, the UPS man came yesterday! Yay! It was fun to open the packages because I'd had enough time to completely forget what I bought. (Though that really doesn't require that much time. I even had duplicate items in those orders and I didn't even make them a week apart!)
